Cheese and Bacon Tart
This Cheese and Bacon Tart is delicious and perfect for lunch with with a side sald or some warm homemade soup.
Ingredients for the pastry:
- 250gr flour
- 150gr butter
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1-2 tbsp water might be needed
Ingredients for the filling:
- 200gr bacon
- 100gr mozzarella
- 100gr regato cheese
- 200gr fresh cream
- 3 eggs
- salt & pepper
- pinch of nutmeg
Method:
- We want to start with our base.
- To make the pastry first cut the butter into small cubes. Keep the butter in the fridge so it’s easier to cut.
- In a large bowl add the flour, salt and the cubes of butter. Using your hands mix the butter with the flour until a dough starts forming.
- If you need add a bit of water, a few tbsps until the mix binds and it becomes a dough.
- Gather the dough into a ball and let it sit in a cool place or the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Roll out your dough and line the pastry into the base of a tin and trim the pastry edges if needed.
- Press the pastry in well and very lightly prick the base with a fork.
- Let the pastry cool for a few minutes before adding the filling.
For the filling:
- Cut the bacon into small pieces.
- In a bowl add the eggs and fresh cream.
- Add a bit of salt and pepper and the nutmeg and mix all the ingredients well.
- Over your pastry base sprinkle the bacon, mozarrella and regato cheese.
- Pour over your cream mixture evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven on 170C for about 30 minutes.
- Your Cheese and Bacon Tart will be ready when it’s golden brown on top.
