Baked Feta Bouyiourdi

Baked Feta Bouyiourdi

An appetizer that smells of greek and middle eastern influences.  According to my grandmothers storytelling, this Baked Feta Bouyiourdi recipe came with the Greeks from Constantinople and Smyrni and it’s a popular dish in the northern cities of Greece and more specific in Thessaloniki.

This baked feta dish is lovely for the winter months and the mixture of the tomatoes and feta cheese is just delicious. An easy peasy recipe you can make in just 30 minutes and impress your friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • 200gr feta cheese, or any other salty white cheese of your liking
  • 1 ripe tomatoe, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 tbsps olive oil
  • 1 spicy sausage, chopped (optional)
  • salt& pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano

Method:

  1. Slice the tomatoes and peppers and break the feta into small pieces.
  2. In a ceramic pot add all the ingredients and pour the olive oil and sprinkle the herbs over the ingredients.
  3. If you are using the sausage, then you have to cook it for a few minutes first and then add it in the ceramic pot with the rest of the ingredients.
