Cheesy Stuffed Meatballs

These delicious Cheesy Stuffed meatballs can be served as an appetizer or with spaghetti and a tomato sauce as a meal.


  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 250gr cheese of your choice
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 sprig of parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsps olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup plain bread crumbs
  • salt & pepper
  • pinch of cumin (optional)
  • 1 cup of water


  1. Place the tomato on a chopping board and cut into equal sized round slices.
  2. Sprinkle the tomato slices with salt, pepper and cumin and put them to the side.
  3. In a big bowl add the ground beef, parsley and finely chopped onions.
  4. Add the bread crumbs, a bit of cumin, the egg and salt & pepper.
  5. Using your hands mix all the ingredients together very well.
  6. While your mixing slowly pour in the water.
  7. Cut your cheese into small cubes.
  8. Divide the mixture into 15 -20 meatballs, then form each meatball around a cheese cube, making sure to cover the cheese completely.
  9. Preheat your oven to 180C, put the meatballs in the oven and once you see that one side is brown move to the other side add the tomatoes on top and cook for another 15- 20 minutes.
