Upside down Apple Cake


  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 250gr butter
  • 4 eggs
  • Orange zest and orange juice
  • 2 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking
  • 1 vanilla
  • A bit of salt
  • 50gr brandy
  • 4-5 apples
  • 100gr walnuts
  • 100gr raisins



  1. Wash the apples, peel, core and cut them in wedges.
  2. Place them in a bowl of water with some lemon.
  3. In a 28cm round tin, put half the butter and melt it in the oven.
  4. Sprinkle 1-2 tbs of sugar, cinnamon and arrange the apple wedges, raisins and walnuts.
  5. In a mixing bowl, put the rest of butter, sugar and mix well until fluffy.
  6. Add one egg at a time and whisk.
  7. Add orange zest and juice, brandy, vanilla and baking powder.
  8. Add flour, whisk and pour over the apples.
  9. Bake at 150c for 40-50 minutes.
  10. Enjoy your simple but tasty Apple cake!
